Hello and Welcome

We've been preparing for you...

Jesus called us to go into all the world, and he meant to everyone. We don’t use those lightly as we firmly believe everyone is called by grace, is a child of God, and worthy of a place at the Lord’s table.

Aroma Park UMC is an old church with a child’s heart. Full of history and experience as our foundation, moving constantly upward toward perfection.

We gather each Sunday at 10:45 am for worship, a time of coffee and conversation following, and various christian education classes at 10:00 am.

Below are few questions newcomers tend to ask. But if you have any question, feel free to use the quick contact box below to send your question to the church office. Someone will be happy to get back with you.

With open hearts, open minds, and open doors, we welcome you to Aroma Park United Methodist Church.

FAQs

When visiting Aroma Park UMC, expect to experience love, joy, welcoming, and acceptance. We’re all family here. Don’t worry about the condition of your clothes, shoes, or life because God sees your heart, and that’s all the matters here.

Want to honor God with your ‘Sunday best?’ By all means. If a torn up shirt and stained jeans are all you have, don’t let that keep you away. Expect to be welcomed, just as you are.

We have a variety of Sunday school (or Christian Education) classes each Sunday during the school year separated by grade. Contact one of our Christian Education folks for any questions you may have.

God sent His Son to die on a cross for the forgiveness of all our sins. Not just certain people. Not just certain ages. At Aroma Park UMC, all means all.

We have one common loaf symbolizing the body of Christ, who allowed His body to be broken and bruised for us. We also use one common cup (grape juice, not wine) to symbolize the blood He spilt for us.

We offer communion on the first Sunday of each month and at special services throughout the year.

At Aroma Park UMC, we care about everyone’s access to God’s table. Our sanctuary, fellowship hall, and entrance are all on one level with no steps.

Behind the church building is a covered drop-off area within a few feet of the sanctuary.

We would love to be a part of celebrating your love. Weddings may be scheduled with our pastor at the church or another location. We do require that each couple go through a period of marriage counseling with the pastor. No, there is nothing wrong with your relationship. These sessions are designed to not only plan the special day, but to prepare you for life after the wedding day.

Please contact the church office, or Pastor Val to schedule your date. A non-refundable deposit is required to secure your date on the church calendar. We observe a first-come, first-served method for scheduling.

The passing of a loved one is never an easy time, but it is a time to stop and remember with joy a life well lived. God sent Jesus to not only die on the cross for our sins, but to smash a hole in death that has terminated our existence. Because of God and Jesus’ great sacrifice, we as Christians draw comfort in the fact that our loved one’s pain in gone and that they’ve passed on to a life everlasting.

If this time has come, or is drawing near, for your loved one and you desire the comfort of a Christian Community at your loss, we invite you to contact us below. We work with your funeral director, hospice coordinator, and family members to offer comfort, meaningful ritual, and words of peace.

The baptism of a new Child of God is always a joyful celebration in the life of the church. A beautiful gift, given by God, affirming this person as son or daughter of God. Through baptism, we are initiated into Christ’s holy church, … incorporated into God’s mighty acts of salvation and given new birth through water and the Spirit. All this is God’s gift, offer to us without price.

We celebrate baptism at any age or stage of life. For infants who are unable to take the gift for themselves, parents and/or family members affirm their commitment to raise and nurture their child in the Christian life and faith until such a time as the child may affirm for themselves those same promises during confirmation.

In the United Methodist Church, baptism is a non-repeatable sacrament. Meaning if you were baptized in another christian faith tradition, we acknowledge and confirm that. For those baptized in the United Methodist Church, they are now a member of the Church universal, the United Methodist Church, and the Aroma Park United Methodist Church local congregation.

Confirmation is a special time in the life of our youth grades 8 & 9. It is a time in the child’s life when they affirm and confirm for themselves the premisses made at their baptism.

Confirmation classes at Aroma Park UMC are held with the pastor over a several week period in which the students will learn what it means to be a Christian, the life and polity of the church, and ends with presenting the graduates on Confirmation Sunday to stand and confirm their commitment to live as members of Christ’s universal Church, to be loyal to Christ through the United Methodist Church, and do all in their power to strengthen its ministries.

For more information on confirmation, or for any questions, please use the contact box below.
